I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every hard stop and frost heave sends a jolt straight through a solid ball mount and into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you loaded in back. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes the edge off that. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but trades the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there is no air pressure to watch, no compressor to own, and nothing to service. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/2-5/16" Ball hauls up to 14,000 lbs of trailer with a level 3" Drop to 5" Rise, and it drops into any 2-1/2-inch receiver. It costs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version and still tows noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never need servicing
  • Handles up to 14,000 lbs of trailer and 1,400 lbs of tongue weight

How the Dual Rubber Cushions Smooth Your Ride

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sits between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. Every time the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up the road shock right at the hitch instead of passing it on into your truck and your cargo.

It Gives a Little Instead of Jarring

The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That bit of give is what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a rigid steel mount that punches every bump straight through to the cab.

Sealed and Maintenance-Free

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for the life of your truck.

Calmer, More Planted Feel

The pivoting cushion design damps the back-and-forth jerks that get a trailer swaying. Heavy loads still want a dedicated sway control kit, but most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer behind it.

Who This Hitch Is Made For

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow but never want to think about air pressure.

  • Occasional towers who hook up a trailer a few times a year
  • Anyone who does not want to babysit air pressure or own a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone wanting a real ride upgrade over a solid ball mount on a budget
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. What sets them apart is travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, though it is a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who wants simplicity over dialing in settings.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag added. It gives you more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and pressure you can dial to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare to fail, and field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you only tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls smoothly, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before you leave, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the reputation but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for you.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that is easy to spot and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
