I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every bump, frost heave, and hard stop that hits your trailer travels straight back up a solid steel ball mount and into your truck, your cargo, and your spine. That constant chucking and jarring wears on the whole rig and makes a long haul feel even longer. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes the edge off. Sealed dual rubber bump cushions sit where the airbag lives on the Original Shocker Air Hitch, riding on the same proven 8-hole steel chassis, so road shock gets soaked up at the hitch before it reaches you. There is no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and nothing to maintain. This base frame comes complete with pins (no ball mount), handles 14,000 lbs GTW across 7 Holes, drops into any 2-inch receiver, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never ask for maintenance
  • Hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with 1,400 lb of tongue weight, plenty for a loaded trailer behind a half or three-quarter-ton
  • Roughly 30 to 40% less money than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank drops into F-150-class half-tons and any class III/IV receiver
  • Safety red textured powder coat for visibility and chip resistance
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over for more drop or more rise
  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog
  • No air pressure to check, no compressor to buy, nothing new to learn

How the Two Bump Cushions Smooth Your Tow

Two Sealed Rubber Bump Cushions

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. Every time the trailer tugs or drops into a pothole, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up that shock at the hitch instead of passing it into your truck.

It Pivots Instead of Sitting Rigid

The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. A solid steel mount cannot move, so it hands every jolt straight to you. That bit of give is what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother.

Sealed and Maintenance-Free

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve to open, no gauge to read, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for the life of the truck.

Naturally Sway-Resistant

The pivoting cushion design settles the front-to-back jerking that gets trailer sway started. On heavy loads you still want a dedicated sway control kit, but most light and mid-weight trailers ride noticeably calmer behind it.

Who This Hitch Is Built For

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow and would rather never think about air pressure again.

  • You tow a few times a year and want it simple
  • You do not want to babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone stepping up from a solid ball mount on a budget
  • Fleets that want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion vs Air Ride, How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The gap comes down to travel, tuning, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, but it is a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who wants simple over adjustable.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag in place of the cushions. More travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and you can dial the pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, and field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a handful of times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smoothly, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding around in your toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but the air-ride routine is not for you, this is the line built with you in mind.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion rides on the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on. That includes combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It comes finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays visible on the road and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
