I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

14,000 lb GTW & 1,400 lb TW Capacity

Safety Red Premium Finish

Impact-resistant textured red powder coating ensures long-lasting durability.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every hard stop, every frost heave, every stretch of washboard gravel, a solid steel ball mount passes the jolt straight into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you loaded up. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes that hit for you. It is the set-it-and-forget-it alternative to air ride, built on the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch but with sealed dual rubber bump cushions where the airbag would go. That means no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to remember. This Impact Max Cushion Hitch & 8-Ton Channel Style Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Ball hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW, adjusts anywhere from 1" Rise to 6-1/2" Drop, drops into any 2-inch receiver, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing a lot smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up the road, and you never service them
  • Hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW and carries up to 1,400 lb of tongue weight

  • 7-hole frame flips over to give you more drop or more rise for a level tow

What the Two Rubber Cushions Actually Do

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions Take the Beating

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sits between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up the road shock right at the hitch so it never travels up into your truck.

It Pivots Like the Air-Ride Version

The ball mount swings on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That bit of pivot is exactly what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a chunk of solid steel.

Sealed In, Nothing to Service

The cushions are bonded inside the frame. There is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and use it for as long as you own the truck.

Calmer Down the Road, Less Sway

That same pivoting cushion action softens the fore-aft jerks that get a trailer swaying in the first place. Most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer behind it. On heavy loads, add a dedicated sway control kit for full control.

Who This Hitch Is For

Pick the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow and would rather not think about air pressure at all.

  • Weekend and seasonal towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Folks who do not want to babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone who wants a real upgrade over a solid ball mount without overspending
  • Fleets that want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Pick

Both ride smoother than a solid mount. What changes between them is travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Runs on rubber cushions and costs roughly 30 to 40% less. You get zero maintenance and a clear step up from solid steel, with somewhat less suspension travel than air ride. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who would rather keep it simple than dial things in.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag in place of the cushions. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and the ability to set pressure to match each trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare to fail, and field-replaceable when it does). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a handful of times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls smooth, and never asks to be serviced. There is no air pressure to check before you leave, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding around in your toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for you.

Fits the Whole Shocker Attachment Family

Because the Impact Cushion runs the same chassis as the Original Shocker, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on: combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change over the years. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays easy to spot and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
