I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You feel every frost heave and hard stop through a solid ball mount. The trailer chucks against the truck, the ride turns harsh, and everything from your hitch to your cargo takes the beating. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K is the set-it-and-forget-it way to end that without ever touching air pressure. It rides on the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but sealed dual rubber bump cushions do the work an airbag would, so there is no air to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to keep up. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Pintle Hook Mount hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with 1" Rise to 6-1/2" Drop to sit your trailer level, and it fits any 2-inch receiver. It runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version and still tows noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions take the road shock right at the hitch, and you never service them
  • Pulls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with up to 1,400 lb on the tongue, enough for the heaviest trailer behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton
  • Runs about 30 to 40% less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank drops straight into F-150-class half-tons and any class III or IV receiver
  • Safety red textured powder coat keeps it easy to spot and resists chipping
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over for more drop or more rise
  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog, so it grows with your trailers
  • No air pressure to check, no compressor to buy, and nothing new to learn

How the Dual Bump Cushions Do the Work

Two Rubber Cushions Take the Hit

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up road shock right at the hitch instead of passing it through the truck to you.

It Pivots Where Solid Mounts Can't

The ball mount swings on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a chunk of solid steel bolted behind your bumper.

Sealed Up and Left Alone

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Install it once and use it for the life of the truck.

Calmer Behind You

The pivoting cushion softens the fore-aft jerks that start a trailer swaying. On heavy loads you still want a dedicated sway control kit, but most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer.

Built For These Buyers

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow and do not want to think about air pressure again.

  • Weekend towers who hook up a trailer a few times a year
  • Anyone who does not want to babysit air pressure or own a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Owners who want a smoother tow without paying for air ride
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride, How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The difference comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions do the cushioning, so it costs roughly 30 to 40% less and asks nothing of you after it is bolted in. You get less suspension travel than air ride, though it is still a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, and for anyone who values simplicity over dialing things in.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis, but with an adjustable airbag in place of the cushions. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and the ability to dial pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, and field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you only tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that asks for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smoothly, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor taking up space in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the reputation but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for exactly that.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change over the years. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stands out for visibility and shrugs off chips, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
