I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Dual bump cushion design for

HD contractor, farm and off-road type towing

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every bump in the road runs straight up a solid steel ball mount and into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you loaded in it. You feel the chucking through the seat, the gear takes a beating, and hard stops turn white-knuckle. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K softens all of that without asking you to babysit air pressure. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but sealed dual rubber bump cushions do the cushioning instead of an airbag, so there is no pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to remember. This Impact Cushion Hitch and Pintle Hook Mount hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW, adjusts from 4" Rise to 6-1/2" Drop, slides into any 2-inch receiver, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

How the Dual Bump Cushion System Works

Two Sealed Cushions Take the Hit

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up the road shock right at the hitch instead of passing it into your truck and your back.

The Ball Mount Pivots

The ball mount swings on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what lets a cushion hitch ride softer than a dead-solid steel mount, so the jolts get worked out before they reach you.

Nothing to Service

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. You bolt it in once and use it for the life of the truck.

Calmer, Steadier Pulls

The pivoting cushion design settles the back-and-forth jerks that get a trailer swaying in the first place. Heavy loads still want a dedicated sway control kit, and most light and mid-weight trailers ride noticeably calmer behind it.

Built For These Buyers

This is the right call when you want a smoother tow but never want to think about air pressure.

  • Weekend and occasional towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Anyone who would rather skip air pressure and never own a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • First-time buyers who want a real step up from a solid ball mount
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The difference comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions do the cushioning, so it runs roughly 30 to 40% cheaper and asks for zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride and a clear upgrade over dead-solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who wants simple over adjustable.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag instead of cushions. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and the ability to dial pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare to fail, and field-replaceable when it does). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that asks for attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smooth, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before you leave, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for you.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog fits it: combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It comes finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays visible on the road and shrugs off chips, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
