I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

A solid steel ball mount sends every frost heave, expansion joint, and hard stop straight up through your truck and back into whatever you're hauling. You feel it in the seat, and your trailer and cargo take the same beating trip after trip. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes the edge off all of it without ever asking you to babysit air pressure. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch but swaps the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there's no pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and nothing to maintain. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Drop Ball Mount w/2" Ball & Sway Bar Tabs hauls up to 14,000 lbs with a 1,400 lb tongue weight, gives you 0" to 7-1/2" of drop, drops into any 2-inch receiver, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still pulling noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never need servicing
  • Hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with a 1,400 lb tongue weight, enough for a loaded trailer behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton
  • Runs about 30 to 40% less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank drops into F-150-class half-tons and any class III or IV receiver
  • Safety red textured powder coat stands out and shrugs off chips
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over when you need more drop or rise
  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog, so one base frame covers every trailer you own

How the Dual Bump Cushion System Works

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions Do the Work

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. Every time the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up the shock right at the hitch instead of passing it through to your truck and your back.

It Pivots Instead of Fighting You

The ball mount swings on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is the whole reason a cushion hitch feels smoother than a solid steel mount that just hammers every jolt straight into the truck.

Sealed In, Nothing to Service

The cushions are bonded inside the frame with no air valve and no pressure gauge to watch. Bolt it in once and pull with it for as long as you own the truck.

Calmer Behind You

The pivoting cushion action damps the fore-and-aft jerks that get trailer sway started, so most light and mid-weight trailers ride noticeably calmer down the road. On heavy loads you'll still want to run a dedicated sway control kit alongside it.

Who This One Is Built For

The Impact Cushion is the right call when you want a smoother pull but never want to think about air pressure.

  • Weekend towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Anyone who doesn't want to babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Buyers who want a real ride upgrade over a solid ball mount without the air-ride price
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Choose

Both pull smoother than a solid mount. The difference comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. It gives you less suspension travel than air ride while still riding a clear step above solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who wants simplicity over fine-tuning.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag instead of cushions. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and pressure you can dial in to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, and field-replaceable when it happens). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

Most people who tow a few times a year don't want a hitch that asks for attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls smoothly, and never needs servicing. There's no air pressure to check before you leave, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding along in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the reputation but don't want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for exactly that.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion runs the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change instead of buying a whole new hitch. It's finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays visible and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
