Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K is the set-it-and-forget-it alternative to air ride. Same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but with sealed dual rubber bump cushions in place of the airbag — no air pressure to monitor, no compressor needed, no maintenance. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Drop Ball Mount w/2-5/16" Ball is rated at 14,000 lbs GTW with 0" to 7-1/2" Drop, fits 2-inch receivers, and costs roughly 30–40% less than the air-ride version while still delivering a noticeably smoother tow than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions — zero maintenance, ever
  • 14,000 lbs GTW capacity with up to 1,400 lb tongue weight
  • About 30–40% less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank fits F-150-class half-ton trucks (and class III/IV receivers)
  • Safety red textured powder coat finish
  • 7-hole adjustable frame, reversible for more drop or rise
  • Works with every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog
  • No air pressure, no compressor, no learning curve

How the Dual Bump Cushion System Works

Two Sealed Rubber Bump Cushions

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. As the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions compress and rebound — absorbing road shock at the hitch instead of transmitting it through the truck.

Pivoting Architecture

The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what gives cushion hitches their smoother feel versus solid steel mounts.

Sealed and Maintenance-Free

The cushions are bonded inside the frame. No air valve, no pressure gauge, no servicing. Install once and use it for the life of the truck.

Naturally Sway-Resistant

The pivoting cushion design dampens fore-aft jerks that initiate trailer sway. Not a substitute for a sway control kit on heavy loads, but most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer.

Built For These Buyers

The Impact Cushion is the right call when you want a smoother tow but do not want to think about air pressure.

  • Occasional towers who pull a trailer a few times a year
  • Buyers who do not want to manage air pressure or own a compressor
  • Boat owners, fish house haulers, snowmobile trailers, ice house owners
  • Contractors with skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone wanting a budget upgrade over a solid ball mount
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion vs Air Ride — How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The difference is in travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions. Roughly 30–40% cheaper. Zero maintenance. Less suspension travel than air ride, but a clear upgrade over solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty use, or any buyer who values simplicity over tunability.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis, but with an adjustable airbag. More travel, smoother ride at any load weight, and you can dial pressure to match the trailer. Costs more, requires a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, but field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

Most truck owners who tow a few times a year do not want a hitch that asks for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smoothly, and never needs servicing — no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, no compressor in the toolbox. For buyers who picked Shocker for the brand reputation but do not want the air-ride workflow, this is the line designed exactly for you.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog fits — combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, drop mounts. Buy the base frame once, swap attachments as your trailers change. Manufactured by Shocker Hitch in Jamestown, ND, with a safety red textured powder coat finish that stands out for visibility and resists chipping.
