I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You feel it every time the trailer catches a frost heave or you stand on the brakes hard. A solid steel ball mount drives every jolt straight into your truck, your load, and your spine. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K softens that hit without asking anything of you. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but trades the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there is no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to remember. Rated at 14,000 lbs GTW with a 3" Drop to 5" Rise, it fits any 2-inch receiver and costs roughly 30 to 40 percent less than the air-ride version, while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions take the edge off every bump and never need a thing from you
  • Hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW and 1,400 lb of tongue weight, plenty for the biggest trailer behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton
  • Costs about 30 to 40 percent less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank drops into F-150-class half-tons and any class III or IV receiver
  • Safety red textured powder coat that stands out and shrugs off chips
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over for more drop or more rise
  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog
  • No air pressure, no compressor, nothing new to learn

How the Rubber Cushions Do the Work

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces, they squash down and spring back, soaking up road shock right at the hitch instead of letting it ride up into the truck.

It Pivots Like the Air-Ride Version

The ball mount swings on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a solid steel mount.

Sealed and Maintenance-Free

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for as long as you own the truck.

Calmer Behind the Truck

The pivoting cushion softens the fore-and-aft jerks that get a trailer swaying in the first place. It will not replace a dedicated sway control kit under heavy loads, though most light and mid-weight trailers ride noticeably calmer behind it.

Who It's Built For

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow but do not want to fuss with air pressure.

  • Weekend and once-in-a-while towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Anyone who does not want to babysit air pressure or own a compressor
  • Boat, snowmobile, fish house, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone who wants a real ride upgrade over a solid ball mount without overspending
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride, How to Pick

Both ride better than a solid mount. The difference comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions do the smoothing, so it runs roughly 30 to 40 percent cheaper with zero maintenance. You give up some suspension travel next to air ride, but it is a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who wants simple over adjustable.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis, but with an adjustable airbag. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any weight, and pressure you can dial in to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare to fail, and field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you only tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls smooth, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, no compressor riding around in the toolbox. If you picked Shocker for the name but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for you.

Same Attachments as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stands out for visibility and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
