I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every hard stop and every set of railroad tracks sends a jolt straight up the ball mount, through your truck, and into whatever you are hauling. A solid steel mount has nothing to soften it, so the trailer chucks, the truck bucks, and your cargo takes a beating. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K fixes that without asking anything of you. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but swaps the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there is no air pressure to watch, no compressor to own, and nothing to service. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/2" Ball is rated at 14,000 lbs GTW with 3" Drop to 5" Rise, fits 2-inch receivers, and costs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never ask for maintenance
  • 14,000 lbs GTW with up to 1,400 lb tongue weight handles the heaviest trailer you will put behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton
  • Rides better than solid steel for about 30 to 40% less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-inch shank slides into F-150-class half-ton trucks and any class III/IV receiver
  • Finished in safety red textured powder coat for visibility and chip resistance
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over to give you more drop or more rise
  • Works with every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog, so one frame covers all your trailers
  • No air pressure to check, no compressor to buy, and nothing new to learn

How the Two Rubber Cushions Smooth Out the Ride

Two Sealed Rubber Bump Cushions

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sits between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces down the road, the cushions squeeze and spring back, catching the shock right at the hitch so it never travels up into the truck and your cargo.

A Ball Mount That Pivots

The ball mount rides on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what lets a cushion hitch move with the road and feel smoother than a solid steel mount that sits bolted stiff.

Sealed In, Nothing to Service

The cushions are bonded inside the frame. There is no air valve to open, no gauge to read, and nothing to grease. Bolt it in once and pull with it for as long as you own the truck.

Calmer, With Less Sway

The pivoting cushion design settles the fore-aft jerks that get a trailer swaying. On heavy loads you still want a dedicated sway control kit, but most light and mid-weight trailers track noticeably calmer behind it.

Who This Hitch Is Built For

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow and do not want to think about air pressure.

  • Weekend and occasional towers who hitch up a few times a year
  • Owners who would rather not babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, snowmobile, fish house, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone who wants a smoother ride than a solid ball mount without the bigger price
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. What separates them is travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions do the work, so it runs about 30 to 40% cheaper and needs no maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, but a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or any buyer who wants simple over adjustable.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag in place of the cushions. It gives more travel, a smoother ride at any weight, and lets you dial the pressure to match each trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item that rarely needs replacing and swaps out in the field. Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that needs attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls smooth, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding along in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but the air-ride routine is not for you, this is the line built with you in mind.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on. That covers combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stands out for visibility and shrugs off chips, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
